Thomas Edward Dyer

July 3, 1931 — March 6, 2017

Ted, formerly of Laurel, Md, passed away on March 6, 2017. Born on July 3, 1931 in Washington, DC,  Ted spent his childhood swimming and playing sports for the Washington Boys Club.  He graduated from Eastern High School, Class of 1949, where he played basketball and baseball. He briefly attended college before enlisting in the Air Force. He was stationed in Nagoya, Japan during the Korean War and served as a test specialist.  After discharge he spent his entire work career at Pepco, advanced  to General Foreman, and retired after 38 years.  In his leisure time he enjoyed playing catcher in men's fast pitch softball, coaching girls basketball and softball for the Laurel Boys and Girls Club, refereeing high school basketball games, and spending family vacations at the beach. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Wilson Dyer, daughters Jennifer Dyer Birsa (Brent Birsa) and Nancy Dyer McVicker, and son Thomas Edward Dyer, Jr. (Heather Conway Dyer) all of Howard County, Md,, brother, Leonard M Young, and sister, Jane Elizabeth Bowerman, currently of Blue Springs, MO, and the late Francis C. Dyer and his 6 grandchildren, memorial service will be held on March 17, 2017 at Donaldson Funeral Home,PA. at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers a charitable donation to the Laurel Boys and Girls Club in honor of Ted Dyer is appreciated.
