Thomas "Tom" Maggenti

September 19, 1937 — September 21, 2022

Thomas Francis Maggenti, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 21st, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Washington D.C. on September 19th, 1937 to the late Thomas Joseph Maggenti and Rose Marie Maggenti.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Edna Jeanette Maggenti; devoted father of Belinda Kundin, Anthony Maggenti, and Dawn Belardino; and cherished “Pop Pop” to Christine Guerra, Ashley Kundin, and Gary Kundin.

After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School, Thomas met the love of his life, Edna. The two of them were set up on a date after expressing interest in each other to mutual friends. In his 20s, he spent time in the coast guard reserve and held jobs in a few different industries before beginning a long career in the printing industry, concluding with him retiring at 62.

After his retirement, Thomas dabbled in various hobbies such as fishing, photography, printing, and playing the guitar. He also kept up to date on the latest technology, often showing younger family members the latest gadget to come out or how to do something on their phone or computer. He acted as the family photographer/videographer, leaving behind many wonderful memories to look back on. Thomas regularly attended the Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church in Laurel MD. There he was a part of the Monday Crew, which took care of repairs around the church. Thomas was also a fan of NASCAR and rooted for the Washington Redskins.

One of the ways Thomas showed his love for his family was by doing things for them such as making sure your car was already warm when you got into it in the winter, checking the traffic for his grandchildren’s commutes ahead of time, helping his children fix things around their house, and protecting his granddaughter, Christine, from bees.

Thomas is survived by his three children; sister Theresa; three grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Rosemary; brother, Francis; and countless other loved ones and friends. He will always be remembered for his warm heart, giving nature, and sharp wit.
