Thomas Isaac Sexton

Thomas (Tom) Isaac Sexton, of Great Cacapon, WV, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Tom was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his children, Jerry Sexton of Hedgesville, WV, Christie Sexton Zion Sexton of Pasadena, MD, Edward Harris of Sparrows Point, MD, Mary Ann Harris Smith of Broadway, VA, and Thomas E. Sexton of Jonesborough, TN; grandchildren, Ryan, Kim, April, Elliott, Carly, Holly, Lorie, Lindsey and Christine; great grandchildren, Kayla, Katelyn, Dahlia, Hudson, Preston, Nathan, Nicholas, Jaden, Aiden, Zelda, Jordan, Jenna, Alyssa and Christopher.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Virginia Harris Sexton and Eva Elizabeth (Betty) Mullis Harris Sexton; father, Isaac Sexton, step father, Hershal Barnette and mother Florence William Sexton Barnette; his brothers James Sexton, Clestal Sexton, Raymond Barnette and his sisters; Opal Sexton Poch and Inez Sexton Philips.

Tom spent many happy hours singing and playing music with dear friends at the Log Cabin Camp Ground, Cross Junction, VA and with his many music-picking friends wherever he found them.

Tom was born in Elsico, KY on February 23, 1927, and lived for many years in Savage and Hanover, MD, before moving to Great Cacapon. He retired from the DC Children's Center in Fort Meade, MD after many years of service.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in the Chapel of the DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707 where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
