Timothy Ross

November 20, 1972 — August 9, 2024

Ellicott City

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Timothy Ross of Ellicott City, Maryland, who passed away on August 9, 2024, at the age of 51. Tim was born on November 20, 1972, in Alexandria, Virginia, and was raised in his beloved Maryland City. He moved overseas with his family and lived in Jordan from 1984-1987 and then moved back to Maryland City where he graduated from Meade High School in 1990. After high school, Tim attended Anne Arundel Community College, graduating with an Associate Arts degree in 1993 and then continued his education at Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University). While at Villa Julie, he was awarded the Dean Rose Dawson Scholar-Athlete Award given in recognition of achievement in higher education, athletics, personal honor and team spirit, and recognized as having the highest cumulative GPA of all graduating athletes. He was also inducted into the Stevenson University Hall of Fame as a member of the 1995 Villa Julie Lacrosse team. Tim graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems working for several companies before becoming the Regional Program Manager for GCC Technologies LLC (2007-2017).

Throughout his life Tim expressed his love and pride for Maryland City (MC) through his license plate (FROM MC), Maryland City tattoo, his MC hand sign and his preferred clothing colors (The Green and Gold). The only other colors that he opted to wear included the Burgundy and Gold of his beloved Redskins/Commanders, the Orange and Black of his Baltimore Orioles, and the Blue and White for his Duke Blue Devils. Fall meant football season and he would always be found tailgating with family and friends in the green parking lot, section E31 (the site of the “R” where he proposed to his wife, Julie) before entering FedEx field for the games. Tim also enjoyed golfing, fishing, poker, concerts, comedy shows, boating, lacrosse, hanging out with friends, supporting the sports of his nieces and nephews, and loving Panda Bear.

Tim is survived by his wife and “girl of his dreams”, Julie. Julie and Tim grew up together in Maryland City, lifeguarding at the West Arundel Swim Club and graduating together at Meade High School; however, it took a lifetime for their friendship to grow into something way more special, a special love and bond between the two. Together, they enjoyed countless sporting events and attended hundreds of concerts.

His beloved dog, Panda Bear Ross, and lifelong companion, Tuffy, both held a special place in Tim’s heart along with his nieces and nephews: John and Andrea Sturgis; David Rissling-Venit, Kellianne (Venit) Griffis, Jay and Michael Venit; Alyssa and Brendan Skelly; DJ, Tristan, Maddie, Lucy, Alina, Keanu, Cobra Kai, and Eva Hitaffer; and Collin and Ellie Bradley.

Tim is also survived by his mom, Sadako (Yasunaga) Ross, and brother, Sean Ross (Kelly), of Maryland City, and countless friends who have been by his side as he courageously fought his cancer battle. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Ross. All who loved him know that he is now attending the biggest concert of all time and watching over all who he left behind. Visitation will take place on Monday, August 26 from 6-8 pm and Tuesday, August 27 from 10-11 am at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. (313 Talbott Ave.) in Laurel, MD followed by a celebration of his life service on Tuesday, August 27 at 11:00 am.
