Walter Harold Jacoby

March 7, 1917 — October 16, 2016

Walter Harold Jacoby, a resident of Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, passed away on October 16, 2016.  He was 99.  He was born March 7, 1917 to the late Henry and Ethel Jacoby.  He grew up in East Orange, NJ and retired to Anderson, South Carolina.   He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years and from Bell Laboratory as a Senior Designer in 1982 where he was also a member of the Pioneers.  Walter enjoyed building model ships, working on his lawn which was always a work in progress and playing the saxophone in a small jazz band.  His greatest love besides his family was music from the big band era.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Doris L. Jacoby; loving children Kathy Fitzgerald and her husband Bob, and Randy Jacoby and his wife Beverly; cherished by 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Home Care and Hospice, 10720 Columbia Pike, 2nd floor, Silver Spring, MD 20901.
