Warren Melbourne Haslup, Jr. Obituary
Warren Melbourne Haslup, Jr., 75, passed away at home on May 12, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. A quiet graveside service will take place at Ivy Hill Cemetery for immediate family.
Warren was born June 16, 1950 in Laurel, MD to the late Warren and Margaret Haslup. He was the oldest of six children and took his role as big brother very seriously. He was a proud graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics. After which he spent 40 years operating his own business, Haslup Excavating. Warren loved to travel whether that be on his Harley Davidson or towing his cozy RV to the many incredible parks around the country. He loved nature’s tranquility, felt pride watching the O’s and Ravens, and cherished experiencing life with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Warren is preceded by his brothers David (Betsy) and Steve, as well as his sister Theresa. He is survived by his wife Lynette, his children Warren Cody, Chelsea, Erika (Jason), his two grandchildren: Kiera and Owen, his younger siblings John and Ellen Haslup, 16 nephews and nieces, as well as their families. He is also survived by his goodest boy and best friend Walker, Warren’s cherished labrador rescue.
Warren was considered tough but fair. His kindness was subtle and behind the scenes. He was never looking to be the center of attention. A boisterous laugh, sarcastic wit, and devotion to family were his immeasurable gifts.
Warren will be remembered often, but his presence will continue to be felt forever. You’ll feel his laughter in the rumble of a Harley engine, his wonder in the vast expanse of a starry sky, and his peace in a gentle breeze over the great plains. Any spare time he had was spent hanging out with his children or sharing snowballs with his grandkids. But above all, traveling with his free-spirited wife were some of his most treasured moments. Warren’s love of history, especially the travels of Lewis and Clark, fueled his wanderlust and inspired many of his adventures across the country. He fully embodied Che Guevara’s quote from his novel The Motorcycle Diaries, “I now know, by an almost fatalistic conformity with the facts, that my destiny is to travel...”
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to either the National Park Foundation, a nonprofit helping to support the many parks Warren was a regular visitor of, or the Greenville Humane Society where Warren found his buddy Walker.
All are invited to celebrate Warren’s life by exploring the outdoors, and searching for their own adventure. His family will be receiving visitors on May 30th, 2026. Please contact the family directly at chaslup@gmail.com for additional information. Any other inquiries can be made by contacting the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A.
