Wesson Cook, Jr. passed suddenly at his home in Clarksville, MD. on August 20, 2013. Wes was born in Grand Marais, MN on August 6, 1932 to the late Wesson Cook, Sr. and Jane Rose (Zimmerman) Cook of Chippewa Indian heritage.
He was raised in Arlington, VA and attended Washington-Lee HS and graduated from University of Maryland, College Park. Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge with an honorable discharge in 1957. He was a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in MD and VA and a longtime member of the MD Society of Surveyors. Wes served many years as a Board member and coach of the Laurel Boys and Girls Club. He was a longtime fan and passionate supporter of the Terrapin Club, the Redskins and the Nationals. He was an avid supporter of the Savage Boys and Girls Club. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his sons and grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carole Arehart Cook, sons Lawrence Wesson Cook (Michele Cook) and Wayne Curtis Cook (Lynn Cook); his caring grandsons Mitchell, Brent, and Brian Cook, and sister Ann Bowler Shea of Shipman, VA. He was also survived by his loyal lab "Murphy." A visitation will be held on Saturday from 3-5 pm at DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Paws for Life, Inc.
