William Jay
Knisley
July 13, 1972 – March 17, 2026
William Jay Knisley Jr., Jay, a devoted husband, proud father, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him, passed away unexpectedly on March 17th, 2026 at his home in Laurel, Maryland at the age of 53.
Jay was the beloved husband of Christine and the dedicated father of Elizabeth and Julia, who were the absolute center of his world. His greatest joy in life was being their dad, cheering them on, supporting their dreams, and celebrating every milestone with unmatched pride.
He was a son of Barbara and stepson to Russell, a son in law to Martha and Paul, an older brother to Donald, Jessica, Stephanie, and Aaron, and a devoted grandson of Nick, Jean, and Wilbur. He was a loving uncle to Isabel, Marissa, Alexander, Jackson, Lyla, Abigail, Maverick, and Noelle. He was the bonus dad to many, including Sara and Sam. Jay held his family and chosen family close and built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and deep connection.
His career path was not traditional, spending the majority of his professional life in the hospitality industry with various restaurant groups and as a dedicated member of the InfinitiHR team. He built lasting relationships with coworkers, his clients, and made a meaningful impact throughout the organization. He brought integrity, kindness, and a genuine care for others into everything he did.
Jay had a servant’s heart and a passion for helping others, which was evident through his love of Work Camp mission trips. He found purpose in showing up for others; to friends across the country, in his own community, even stumbling into being an influencer, always ready to lend a hand, share a smile, and offer encouragement.
Hospitality was not just something Jay practiced-it was who he was. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, cared for, and valued. Whether hosting friends, supporting family, or simply being present, Jay made everyone feel like they mattered. His home—and his heart—were always open.
Jay’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering kindness made him an inspiration to all who knew him. He had a way of lifting others up, bringing people together, and leaving every place better than he found it.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered for the incredible man he was.
A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at Liberty Grove United Methodist Church 15225 Old Columbia Pike Burtonsville, MD 20866 on March 28th at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Ken Cole Food Pantry through Liberty Grove UMC.
