Lcdr Wortham David Davenport, of Laurel, MD. Born December 14, 1935 in Caracas, Venezuela, son of the late Wortham and Ruth Davenport. He served his country for 27 years in the Army and Navy where he earned the Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal, was a lifetime member of the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad (LVRS) serving his community unselfishly, was a active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, regularly assisting with its services and many community projects such as 'Winterhaven'. He is survived by his wife Carol; son W. David, Jr., daughter Cheryl; twin sisters Elizabeth Fish and Kathryn Bernard; grandchildren Emma, Edward, and Daniel Davenport. A Celebration of His Life will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 10755 Scaggsville Road, Laurel, MD 20723 on Tuesday, December 27 at 11 a.m. Military Honors and Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.
