ENGR ABIODUN AJIFOWOBAJE 1953-2019

BIRTH AND EARLY LIFE

Engr. Abiodun Oladiran Ajifowobaje was born in Ilesha on the 23rd of December 1954 to the family of Pa. Elisa and Mrs. Omowunmi

Ajifowobaje. He was the 3rd child of five siblings.

EDUCATION

Engr. Abiodun started his education at SIM primary school in Kano,

Kano state and later Ansaudeen Primary school in Lagos from 1964 - 1970. He proceeded to Titcombe College Egbe in Kogi state for his secondary school education. Abiodun enrolled into the Federal Government College Kano in 1975 for his A levels. He completed his secondary school and A levels education with distinction. In 1976, he was admitted to the University of Lagos to study Electrical Engineering in 1976, where he graduated with honours in 1980. He later bagged an MBA degree from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in 2009.

WORK & CAREER

Engr. Abiodun started is professional work life as an engineer trainee with the National Electric Power Authority at the Kainji Hydropower Station in Niger state upon completion of his National Youth service Corp in 1982. Upon completion of his one-year trainee program, he joined the National Electric Power Authority as Engineer in 1983. He was immediately posted as a team member of the ongoing Rural Electrication project. A role he work in for over five years. During his time at Rural, we worked in more than 350 rural areas and worked in every local government across the federation.

Due to his hard work and commitment to duty, he was promoted in 1992 and transferred as the First District Manager in Jigawa State. He later worked as District manager in the following districts:

 Nassarawa District(Kano), Dala District(Kano), Kebbi District (Kebbi state), Nassarawa District(Kano), Shomolu District(Lagos), Ijora District(Lagos), Ikeja District(Lagos), Festac District(Lagos) and Victoria Island District.

Engr. Abiodun's dedication to duty was recognised with another welldeserved promotion as assistant General Manager Customer service under Ikeja Zonal Offce in Lagos. He later served as AGM Technical in the same offce. He was actively involved in the privatisation process of the old PHCN to private investors and was part of the transition team on the side of the PHCn.

In 2015, he was appointed as the First MD/CEO of Ikeja Electric, a position he held until his retirement in 2017.

Engr. Abiodun served as member of several professional bodies notably the Nigerian Society of Engineers now the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE) where he rose to serve as the National Chairman.

After he retired from active service he was appointed as a consultant to several organisations such as Amazon energy, Ikeja Electric to mention a few.

Until his untimely death, he was the MD/CEO of Abelee Engineering Limited, Abelee Travels and Tours.

He was a recipient of several awards for his meritorious service in all organisations he worked for his exemplary service and dedication to duty.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE.

Abiodun got married to his heartthrob Mrs Helen Ajifowobaje in 1984. He was later re-married after the demise of his first wife to Mrs. Tolulope Ajifowobaje. He is blessed with seven amazing children. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife and children. Engr. Abiodun will be deeply missed by members of his immediate and extended family. He was loved by all for his love for family as he always brings family members together. He was known for his great sense of humour and willingness to help one that comes to him for support. He dedicated his life  to the support of his family both immediate and extended. Engr. Abiodun was  a devoted Christian who was dedicated to the things of God, he worshipped God tirelessly with his time and resources. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. Fare thee well Abara as you are fondly called till we meet to part no more.
