Alice Truesdell Killen, 80, passed away in Laurel, Maryland on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
Alice was born on April 13, 1941, in Albemarle, North Carolina to Ralph and Miriam (Barton) Truesdell. While in college, she was a member of the Y.W.C.A and Pep Club. She was also a cheerleader. Alice graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
Alice worked for a few years at the National Security Agency before choosing to be a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She lived in Kettering, Maryland, for most of her adult life. Alice maintained many friendships through her participation in a Ladies Bridge Club even after moving to Hammond Village to be closer to her grandchildren.
Alice was an active member of Mount Oak United Methodist Church for 36 years. She took part in the ministry by sharing her love of cooking. She prepared luncheons for senior citizens, Best Years. For more than a decade, she led the Wednesday night dinners for all the families in the congregation. Alice was a generous Christian and a dedicated, loving wife and mother.
Alice is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert F. Killen, daughter Beth and her husband Dave Sellers, daughters Laura and Ruth, grandchildren Billy and Andy Sellers.
She is also survived by her sister Miriam (John) MacGregor and brother Barton (Marlene) Truesdell. She was preceded in death by brother Ralph Truesdell III.
Services will be held at Mount Oak United Methodist Church 14110 Mount Oak Road Bowie, MD 20721 on Friday, September 17, 2021. Family and friends are welcome to join us at the Pavilion afterward for a reception.
