David Ambrose Obituary

David Bruce Ambrose, beloved son and brother, died unexpectedly at age 54 on November 12, 2020 at home in Laurel, MD.

He was born and raised in Cheverly, MD before moving to Laurel, MD.  He attended St. Ambrose Middle school (Cheverly, MD) before graduating from Gonzaga College High School (Washington, DC) in 1984. He also attended Mary Washington College and the University of Maryland at College Park.  David worked various jobs in his youth starting as a paperboy at age 9, until he began as a teller at Chevy Chase Bank where he worked for 30+ years. He loved his team at the bank,  advanced to AVP in the ATM department and continued working diligently after the bank was acquired by Capital One.

David was a big sports lover and enjoyed soccer, tennis, football, hockey, softball, billiards and golf.  He was competitive and received numerous sports awards throughout his early life. In his later years, he was an avid Caps and Redskins fan and loved impersonating sports announcers.

David, a gentle soul, was the son of the late Robert Bruce Ambrose. He is survived by his mother, Janet Catena Ambrose of Gambrills, MD; his two brothers, Michael Ambrose of San Francisco, CA, and Joseph Ambrose (Patricia) of Baltimore, MD; as well as numerous cousins.

David is loved and will be greatly missed. Due to Covid, he will be buried in a private service at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD with a future celebration of life date to be determined.
