Dawn Carol Frizzell, age 72, went to be with the Lord while at home in Laurel, Maryland on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.  Hallelujah!

Born December 15, 1947 in Washington DC, daughter of Leonard R. Smith and Leocadia “Lee” S. Wozniak, Dawn lived in Washington DC, Wheaton (Wheaton H.S. class of 1965), Rockville, Gaithersburg, Boyds, Damascus, New Market and Ellicott City before landing in Laurel with family. She had worked in Bethesda for 30+ years for the telecommunications industry and in Frederick for a few miscellaneous companies before retiring around 2007.  She was a member of and/or worshipped at Sacred Heart School (DC), St Catherine Laboure (Wheaton), St Martin of Tours (Gaithersburg), St Paul (Damascus), St John the Evangelist (Frederick), Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Ellicott City) and St Mary’s of the Mill (Laurel).

Dawn is survived by her brothers Leonard “Roddy” R. Smith and his wife Karen, Bryant Smith, her sister Valerie A. Lewis and husband Barry Lewis; her beloved sons Charles F. Frizzell and wife Betsy, Mark D. Frizzell and her daughter Kelly M. Miller and husband Trevor S. Frizzell and her sister Bonita “Bonnie” Smith.

Dawn enjoyed listening to birds sing, popsicles on the front porch, gardening, baking, dancing to the “oldies” and church or family get-togethers. She was known for her prize winning baklava which won high awards at most of the local county fairs and was thoroughly enjoyed by family and friends.  She was a “Rose Bud” member of the Laurel chapter of the American Rosie the Riveter Association.  She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America for many years. She enjoyed attending mass, the Ladies of Charity, volunteering at the ‘religious store’ and the annual Christmas bazaar jewelry table at her home church parish of St Mary’s of the Mill.

Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 7, 2020, at St Mary’s of the Mill 114 St Marys Place Laurel, Maryland 20707.  Per CDC guidelines and restrictions, please wear a face mask and maintain social distance.  Internment will be at a later date.
