Duane Peabody age 70 passed away in Columbia, MD on Sunday, August 29, 2021
Born January 27, 1951 in Plymouth, Indiana, son of Cyrus and Betty (Steiner) Peabody. He was a resident of Laurel for over 40 years. Serving 8 years in the US Navy and 39 years at BAE Systems as a Configuration Management Analyst, CO until retiring in 2016. Duane was a member of Savage United Methodist Church where he participated as an actor in several church plays and a member of the Choral and Bell Choirs. He also participated as a transplant ambassador through TRIO and worked the Donate Life Maryland booth to spread information about the life saving work they perform. He was an avid fan of both the Arizona and St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed playing on the recreational football, volleyball and company softball teams. After he hung up his cleats, he made sure to be at his grandchildren’s athletic games and school concerts.
Duane is survived by Kay (wife), daughters Karen (Tim) Smallwood) and Tina (Dareyl) Plue, grandchildren Devin, David, Madison, Georgia, Sara, and Amy, and sister Phyllis Cole and 7 great grandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by his parents Cyrus and Betty (Steiner) Peabody and granddaughter Elizabeth.
Visitation will be 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm September 2 at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., Funeral Services 10:45 am September 3, at the Donaldson Funeral Home’s Chapel, followed by Procession at 12:00 pm to Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery in Crownsville.
