Elisa Veronica Puckett, 74, returned to her heavenly home on May 14, 2020 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Elisa was born to the late Ignatius “Charles” and Libera “Lee” Bauso, a Carpenter for Con Edison and Yellowbook respectively, in the Bronx, New York on July 9, 1945. She worked for several retail outlets and automobile support. Some of her favorite past times were reading, cooking, long walks, ceramics, knitting and visiting places she’d never been before.
Elisa was blessed with a loving family. She married a fellow Navy serviceman, Jean Raymond Puckett, on February 11, 1978 at Burtonsville Baptist Church in Burtonsville, MD. Elisa raised her son, Raymond Allen Puckett, with patience, discipline and humility. She helped teach him to read, write, solve complex equations, and took him on family trips to see the natural beauty surrounding him. From the very beginning, she encouraged him to explore the beauty of the gospels, leading him to follow in his beliefs.
Elisa was an educator at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, not matter how small. She is and will be dearly missed by her loved ones and celebrate the fact that she is a peace with her creator.
Elisa is survived by her husband Jean Raymond, her son Raymond Allen, her daughter by marriage Shantia Noel, her grandson Kyrin Dante, granddaughter by marriage Malia Adrianna and soon to be granddaughter Savannah Marie Elisa. She is preceded in death by her sister, Marie; and her parents.
Elisa will be buried at the Union Cemetery in Burtonsville, MD at on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the American Heart Foundation would be appreciated. A memorial card of your favorite memory or story of Elisa could be sent to the Puckett’s at 6903 Bradford Court, Laurel, MD 20707 to be placed into a scrapbook.
