Elizabeth "Betsy" Lynn Obituary

Elizabeth “Betsy” Fell Lynn, age 64, of College Park, MD passed away on March 31, 2023.

Betsy was predeceased by her parents, Gordon (MaryAnne) Fell and Molly “Sabrina” Hawkins, and widowed by her late husband Larry Lynn Sr. She is survived by her children, Christopher K. Nicholson, Andrew G. Fell, and Kenneth Harrell and her siblings, Cynthia Swafford (Sandy), Mark Fell, and Jennifer Dill (Stephen). She is also survived by her grandson, Caleb Nicholson, and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews with whom she enjoyed spending holidays, summers and family gatherings.

Betsy enthusiastically served her community as Resident Council Vice President at Attick Towers where she advocated for building improvements and increased engagement with College Park city government. Earlier in her life she worked as a real estate agent and property manager. Betsy enjoyed her decades-long association with the College Park Women of the Moose where she served on various committees and was particularly skilled at cooking for large events. Betsy enjoyed time boating and beaching on the Chesapeake Bay and was always up for any type of social gathering, large or small. She was a huge fan of NASCAR and thoroughly enjoyed attending races in person with her brother Mark. She was a member of the American Poolplayers Association where she won a match in the most recent championship rounds. Betsy also loved playing shuffleboard, fishing, riding her bike, gardening, reading, and taking in the latest movies.

Betsy’s son Andrew was her pride and joy and she loved sharing with family and friends the latest news of his continuing successes as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local26. She was also an attentive and caring mother to her beloved dog Baron (“BooBoo”).

Betsy found acceptance, spiritual meaning, and fellowship with the Adelphi Society of Friends where she was a member of the women’s group and book club. Betsy was fascinated with and liked to research history that linked her (Fell) family back to the 1600s and Margaret Fell, known as the “mother of Quakerism” in Northwest England at Swarthmoor Hall, which is known as the organizational headquarters of the Religious Society of Friends.

To honor Betsy’s memory, there will be a celebration of her life with a Memorial Meeting on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 2 pm at the Adelphi Friends Meeting house at 2303 Metzerott Rd. Adelphi, MD 20783. The family asks that attendees wear bright colors.
