Obituary
Elsie McGee, 95, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Elsie was born April 27, 1927, in Savage, Md to Bernard and Elizabeth Dixon. Elsie met and married Patrick McGee and they resided in Laurel, MD. Elsie was a member and volunteer for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and volunteered for many years at Sarah’s House in Laurel.
Elsie is survived by her four children, Catherine Hiett (Les Hiett), Mike McGee (Becky McGee), Timothy McGee and Valerie Spoonhour (John Spoonhour). Elsie was blessed to have 7 grandchildren, Bill Hiett, Beth Meadows, Victoria Galster, Shannon Lyvers, Brian McGee, Richard Spoonhour and Jennie Randle. Elsie also had 10 amazing great grandchildren that she loved dearly, Johnathan, Shawn and Jackson Hiett, Ayden and Bella Meadows, Koralyn Galster, Dominic and Graham Spoonhour, Elijah and Joslyn Randle and the 11 one soon to be born!
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick McGee, Son in law, John Spoonhour and grandson, John Spoonhour Jr.
Services will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue in Laurel, MD where the viewing will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 11:00 am. The burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Laurel.
Elsie was a woman on the go. When she was younger you could find her helping others in the community, going on trips with her husband, spending time with her grand kids or walking in her neighborhood. She enjoyed being around people and making people feel welcome in her home. She was always happiest talking to family and friends on the phone or telling any of her many stories. She would love to hear about what was new with each one of her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren. We will all greatly miss Elsie/Oma. A part of all our hearts is missing but we are seeking the comfort that she is at peace now.
