Elvin Leon Baker

December 23, 1933 — May 13, 2017

Elvin Leon Baker, a longtime resident of Laurel, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from Cancer.  He was 83.  He was born on December 23, 1933 to the late George and Ethel Baker in Union City, Indiana.  He graduated from Union City West Side High School in 1951 and also attended Prince George’s Community College, where he took computer courses for work.  Elvin served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years.  He then moved to Laurel, MD in 1968, where he worked for Goddard Space Flight Center as a contracted employee until he retired in 1999.  Elvin was an avid Washington Redskins Fan, enjoyed watching British Comedies, and most important, spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.

In addition to his parents, Elvin was preceded in death by his two brothers Robert and Delbert Baker.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Alice Teresa Baker; loving children Dan Baker and Teresa Wood; Son-in-Law Dan Wood; siblings Betty Cook and Billy Baker; grandchildren Christina Moutari-Moussa and Amber Wood; and great-grandchildren Isaiah, Alannah, Laila, and Aisha.  He is also survived by his cat Angel.
