Evelyn Alma Potter

The following obituary was lovingly submitted by the family of Evelyn Potter

Evelyn Alma Potter, age 86, passed away in Laurel, Maryland on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022. 

Born September 27th, 1936 in New York City, Daughter of Violet Fuchs and William Rankin. She spent her early years in New York City, moving to Arlington, Virginia for her teen years before settling in Laurel, Maryland. She raised three children and worked at Loyola Bank of Laurel. Evelyn was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church and previously Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed serving on the church choirs and as a Sunday School teacher. 

Evelyn is survived by daughter Linda Layfield (Donald) and son Brian Potter (Lisa), grandchildren Alison Kucera (Kent), Melissa Murray (Clint), Heather Potter, Jake Potter, and Max Potter and great grandchildren Kaitlyn Kucera, Adam Kucera, Ariana Murray, and Luna Lasky.  Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Oren Potter, son Bruce Potter, brother Frederick Rankin, and sisters Beverly Delozier and Frances McLaughlin. 

Evelyn enjoyed singing in church choirs, was fiercely competitive at board games, and made the most of holidays for her family.  She will be missed. 

Services will be held at 11:00 am (viewing 10:30 am) on Monday, December 5th at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulton, Maryland.
