Gene Kearney Obituary

Chief Master Sergeant Gene E. Kearney (USAF retired), of Laurel, Maryland,  a beautiful soul full of love and faith, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022.

Born March 15, 1937 in Warrenton, North Carolina, he was the son of Boyd and Winnie Kearney (Davis). 

Preceded in death by his son Gene Kearney Jr. and grandson Bryant Kearney. 

Survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Ann Kearney (Haigh), daughter Denise James (Harold), granddaughter Dawn Kearney, great grandson Micah Kearney Lester,son Kevin Kearney(Tracy), step-son Mark E. Bower (Michelle Bower) and their children, Caroline and Emily, step-son Stephen W. Bower (Jeanne Bower) and their children, David, Alexandra, and Matthew, and three great grandchildren.

He was raised in Warrenton, NC and at the age of 17 joined the armed services having served 30 years in the military. At the time of his retirement, he was the superintendent of the Department of Medicine at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Joint Base Andrews.  Upon his retirement, he accepted a position with the Washington Sports and Entertainment organization in the group sales department. 

He’ll be remembered, loved, and cherished by the many who were blessed to have known him.

 

  Together Gene and Joyce were blessed to share a love that extended to their large family.
