Guy Bowman Thompson, 80 years old of Laurel, MD passed away 08/21/2023
He was born in 1942 to Hugh BowmanThompson and Mary Jane Pool in Corcoran, CA.
Guy joined the US Navy in 1960 and did 3 tours of duty in Vietnam where he received a purple heart. After retiring from the Navy, he moved to Lancaster, CA where he worked on the Space Shuttle missions at Edwards Air Force base until 1988 at which time he moved to Laurel, MD to work at the State Department. He was a member of the Patapsco River Power Squadron, where he was Commander 3 times and was also the Secretary on the district level for 3 years.
He retired from the US Navy and the State Department in DC. He enjoyed boating, stamp collecting, and writing short stories that have been published on Amazon.
Memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Md. 20707 on September 16, 2023 at 1 pm followed by military honors at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Anne Murray, daughter Beth Anne Thompson, brother Dennis Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Mary Jane Thompson, brother Michael John Thompson, son Michael Bowman Thompson, and daughter Christine Marie Thompson.
