Harriett Ann Carr Kilby, age 91, lifetime resident of Laurel, Maryland passed away on December 20, 2021.
Born June 16, 1930 in Baltimore,Maryland. Daughter of William Plummer Carr and Aletha Carr Rowley. She lived her entire life in Laurel, Maryland and worked for the US Department of Agriculture until retiring in 1990. Harriett was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church of Laurel.
Harriett is preceded in death by her husband Charles William Kilby Sr. Their children are Charles William Kilby Jr., Keith Ashby Kilby -(deceased) and his wife Eileen Kilby, Holly Sutliff and her husband John Sutliff, and Margaret Kathy Jackson and her husband Mike Jackson. Harriett’s grandchildren include Scott Kilby (Holly), Beth Schwartz (Greg), Keith Kilby Jr. (Missy), Michelle Bennett, Nick Kilby, Christine Sutliff, Sarah Jackson (deceased), Olivia Jackson, Emily Jackson, and Hunter Jackson. Harriett’s great-grandchildren include: Morgan and Ben Schwartz, Devlin and Chayce Kilby, Lauren Young, and Jonathan Salguero.
She is survived by brothers Robert P. Rowley and John T. Rowley__ Preceded in Death by brother William Carr, and sisters Mary Harmel, and Erma Lee Libernini. She also is loved by many nieces, especially Linda Lodge and Debra Schmidt, nephews, and cousins.
She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed crocheting, and donated thousands of handmade blankets to local hospitals and churches for distribution to needy families. She also enjoyed cooking, music, writing and reciting poetry, and watching game shows. She also loved her new companion “Alexa.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Services will be held December 27, 2021. Due to current COVID concerns, the family has requested the funeral service be recorded for additional friends and family to take part in the service safely.
