Jack Oliver Dodson, Sr, of Severn, Maryland passed away on October 3, 2021 at the age of 100. Born on January 19, 1921 in West Moreland, Tennessee to parents: late George Obie Dodson and Gracie Lee [Jiles] Dodson.
Jack was a Veteran of the US Army -- serving in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. He served in the US Army for 30 years. After retiring he worked for the secret service from 1972-1983.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and loved country music. He was an active Deacon with 1st Baptist Church, a member of the VFW Post 160 and a dedicated husband and father.
Jack is survived by his son, Jack O. Dodson, Jr.; 6 grandchildren: Michael Dozier (Noel), Lori Dodson, Becky Dodson, Andrew Dodson and Amanda Dozier; 5 great-grandchildren: Ian Dozier, Michela Dozier, London Dozier, Jack Dozier and Amy Dozier; son-in-law, Buford Dozier and multiple nieces and nephews in Maryland and Tennessee; including Cheryl Lipscomb, who was his caregiver over the last two plus years.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Phillis [nee Merson] Dodson and 3 daughters: Sharon Lee Dozier, Laura Lynn Rager and Diane Rager-Paniczko.
