Doris J. “Jean” Varndell, 86 of Laurel, Maryland passed away November 25, 2020.
She was born in 1934 to Frederick Wible and Doris (Saxe) Wible in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, softball, cooking, baking, and caring for her pets. As a member of Maryland Classics, a 55-and-over softball team, she won the Maryland Senior Olympics championship in 2000 and participated in the National Senior Olympics in 2001.
She is survived by daughter Lisa Varndell of Laurel, Maryland, son David Varndell of Fulton, Maryland, grandsons Brandon Varndell of Laurel, Maryland, and Kevin Varndell of Frederick, Maryland, and sister Patricia Baranek of Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Varndell, daughter Terri Lynn Varndell, brothers Francis, William, Charles, Howard, and Fred Wible and sister Virginia Wible.
Visitation will be held in the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707 on Tuesday, December 1, from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm. The funeral service will take place the following day at 12:30 pm in the funeral home's chapel. Interment will take place at Emmanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
