Joan Byington Obituary

This obituary was lovingly submitted by the family of Joan Maureen Byington

Joan Maureen (Rose) Byington (80) was born in Driffield, Yorkshire England on 19 February 1943. She was born during WWII to Frances May (West) and Sidney William Rose. She was their second and last child. Growing up she was a Tom boy when she was little. She loved to climb trees, and work in the gardens with her grandpa. Joan was always happy to help anyone she could. Because of this she decided to become a nurse. Her vocation was an oncology nurse. She loved her work. She loved serving others and helping people during their time of need. This was a large part of her entire life, as she strived to live like the Savior did. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in early 1967. A few years later she met her husband. They were married in April of 1974 in the London England temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Joan was a woman of strong and unwavering faith. Her faith was extremely important to her. She was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. Joan was truly an example to those around her because of her valiant testimony of the Savior and Our Heavenly Father and the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved her family and found much happiness in being a mother to her three children. She was a steadfast wife to her husband for almost 44 years. Joan was a friend to everyone she met. A ray of sunshine beaming for the people who crossed her path. Her mom always said she was “different” and indeed she was. She had a heart of pure gold and it touched everyone she met.

She moved to the US in 1977. Joan became a stay at home mom and quickly became “the neighborhood nurse”. Whenever there was an injury or Illness everyone called upon her for advice on what to do. She was such a great mother. She always cooked meals from scratch. She always made delectable baked goods, and lots of sewing projects. She had many talents, including drawing and painting, and the most beautiful singing voice. Joan was a strong woman. She never backed down from a trial or challenge she was met with. With great determination she overcame everything that came her way.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Frances May (West) and Sydney William Rose, husband, TSGT Carlyle Owens Byington (her beloved Bing), USAF Retired, grandchildren Joseph Carlyle Nuzzaco and Kathryne Amy Nuzzaco. She is survived by her three children, Lisa Jeanette Rose Byington, Rachael Byington Nuzzaco (Thomas G Nuzzaco), Dale Gordon Byington, grandchildren Christopher Arballo, Jr, Adam Jacob Arballo, Stephen Jeremy Nuzzaco, and Samuel Patrick Nuzzaco.
