John Edward Ailor, 79 passed away on December 17, 2020, he was born in Knoxville, TN on October 22, 1941 to the late Dr. John Edward Ailor and Dorothy Ailor. Edward was a graduate of the University of Tennessee as a DDS and served 26 years as a dentist in U.S. Army Dental Corps. After leaving the Army he taught at the University of Maryland Dental School for 15 years, he retired from there in 2006 after 15 years of service. He was a great dentist, avid golfer and a kind and loving husband and a caring friend of all he met including his many pets.
He is survived by his dear wife, Ruth M. Ailor (Lynn); brother of Terry S. Ailor and his wife Darlene of Newport, TN, nephews Greg Ailor and Douglas Ailor, nieces Melissa Nichol and Pat Jones; brother-in-law of John A. Peer and his wife Lorrie of Brockville, Ontario Canada and their daughters Julie Morphy, Trisha Galipeau and Beth deVerteuil; he was preceded in death by his parents Dr. John E. and Dorothy Ailor and sister Jean Mahan.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States, Michael J. Fox Foundation or Mid-Atlantic Scottish Terrier Education and Rescue.
