John David Laws, 92, of Laurel, Maryland passed away July 12, 2021. He was born in 1928 to Raymond and Margaret Laws in Penn Yan, New York. John was a veteran of the United States Air Force and Alumni of Michigan State University. He retired from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He was a Flight Projects Director, working on projects such as the Hubble Space Telescope and Project Gemini. He enjoyed fencing in college, crabbing and fishing, football, swimming, and horse races. Above everything he was a family man. He is survived by brothers: Bernard and Jim, a son: Jon, Grandchildren: Tiffanie, Ashley, Mariah, Jon, Zachary, and Josiah; Great grandchildren: Wayne, Kylie, Caiden, Joleena, Sianna, Savannah, Skye, Zach, and Bentley. He was preceded in death by his former spouse Jane; Siblings: Raymond, William, Betty, and Richard.
Viewings will be at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 12noon followed by a burial at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.
