Kathy Borras Obituary

Kathy Borras, 78 of Laurel, MD went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2022. She was born on April 11, 1943 in Washington, DC and given the name Nellie Kathryn Elliott. She was raised by her grandmother in Upper Marlboro, MD. Kathy had many nicknames including Wild Woman, Nellie Boots, Kaf and Bootsie. She did in home childcare for many years before working at Toys R Us and later Russett KinderCare as a teacher’s aide. She loved children and they loved her- a true kid at heart.  Kathy loved to play bingo, video games, listen to music and go to the casinos. She always looked forward to her yearly beach trips with the Maryland City girls. Being involved with MCRC cheerleading was some of her favorite times in her life. She was always the cheerleaders’ biggest cheerleader.  Kathy could be found at the bowling alley on Friday nights for most of her adult life enjoying time with her teammates and friends. She never met a stranger, always making friends instantly. She was the life of the party who loved her crabs, Coors Light, dancing and singing. She loved watching her daughter and son-in-law’s band Suckerpunch perform, going live on FB, going to karaoke and watching the fireworks with her daughter and her family. Kathy was always there to support her kids and grandkids, she absolutely loved spending time with them and was always so proud of all of them. She was a huge Orioles and Redskins fan and she loved her some Elvis Presley. Kathy had a huge heart and always made sure everyone knew how much she loved them. She was such a huge light in the world and was loved by so many. She was a very selfless woman who would always make sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. Kathy was the best Mom, Gmom, MeMe, Memaw, Grandmonkey, G-Gmom, Aunt and Friend ever and she will be greatly missed by all. She will always be with us in our hearts and her memory will continue to live on through everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
