Sgt Ken Conrad Chambers (Age 33)
Ken Chambers, an Army sergeant of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away on Thursday September 19, 2019.
‘Kenny” as he was affectionately called, was born on December 28, 1985 to Velma Mohan and Conway Chambers.
In 2007 he enlisted in the Army, and served combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
For his service, his awards include two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, four Army Good Conduct Medals, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Ribbons and the NATO Medal.
Ken was an avid gamer who loved anime and music. A kind and soft spoken man, his altruism was demonstrated in all aspects of his life; with his family, friends and members of the church he and his family attended, Iglesia Ni Cristo Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Joanna Ashley Swank-Chambers, daughter Karyn Swank Chambers 10 years old and son Christopher Swank Chambers, 9 years old. He also leaves a grandmother, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, several cousins and many in-law family members, who all loved him.
Ken was greatly loved and will be missed.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday
October 16, 2019 at 1:45 PM, at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Cheltenham MD. Funeral repast to follow after the service
