Martha Ann Burrell Wilson was born on September 12, 1926 to the late Martha Ann Perry (Alston) and Edmond Y. Burrell in Franklin County, NC. She departed this life on October 30, 2019 at CR Care of BondMill in Laurel, Maryland surrounded by loving family.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized as a member of Concord Baptist in Kittrell, NC. She attended Concord School and Franklin High in Franklinton, NC.
Martha Ann was a long-time resident of Mt. Vernon and Yonkers, New York along with her dutiful and hilarious husband, James Thomas “JT” Wilson who preceded her in death in 2000. She joined Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Westchester, New York and was a faithful and active member until she moved to a care facility in Laurel, Maryland in 2014.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star Fraternity in Yonkers, NY, Terrace City # 26 Chapter, Prince Hall Order of the Eureka Grand Chapter where her husband, James “JT” Wilson also served as a Mason.
Martha Ann was the last surviving sibling of 13 children. She leaves to cherish her memory: (2) Step-Children, James Roy Wilson of Washington, DC and Cedric Wilson of Midland, TX; (3) Step-Granddaughters: Ayah Wilson of Oakland, California, Almaz Wilson of Gainesville, Florida and Keisha Turner of Washington, DC; (3) Step-Grandsons: James Thorne Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia, Kyle Reissland of Toronto, Canada, and Blaize Reissland of Alexandria, VA; a Daughter-in-Law, Sana Deloris Sims of Atlanta, Georgia; (6) Nieces: Willie Mae Richardson, Gracie Terry and Mary Marrow of Henderson, NC, Nannie Claire Davis, Beatrice Alston and Annie “Shep” Kittrell of Franklinton, NC; (1) Nephew: Carlton Burrell of Kittrell, NC; and a host of Step-Great Grandchildren, Great Nieces and Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
The family will have Graveside Services on November 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM in Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave, Valhalla, NY 10595 where she will be laid to rest with her husband, JT Wilson. A Memorial will be held in her home state of North Carolina at a date later to be determined, to celebrate the life and legacy of Martha Ann Wilson.
