Maynard N. Wines

Maynard Norman Wines, age 88, loving known as Rummy, Pops, Moe, passed away in Columbia, Maryland on September 1, 2023. Born February 27, 1935 in Odenton, Maryland to the late Lida and Elias Wines. In addition to his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by 17 siblings along with his loving wife Joan after 62 years of marriage. Maynard is survived by his three children and their spouses Norman (Jeanne Anne), Missy (Bryon), Raymond (Jayne). He is the loving grandfather of Laura Imirie (Andrew), Amber Frances (Grant), Daniel Wines (Tiffany), Karley Wines, Brandon Honeywell, and in October his first great grand-child to be born.

Maynard worked at Haverhill Construction Company as a bridge building superintendent, after retiring he was a mail courier for Howard County Dept. of Fire and Rescue. Maynard was also a member at Savage Volunteer Fire Co. for 60 years and attended Savage Baptist Church

Maynard was a hard-working man. He always said “yes” to take on projects for the Fire Company, church as well as anyone who asked for his help. Was an avid family man. Looked forward to fishing every year on his annual trip to Hyco Lake in NC with his family. Once grandchildren started coming, his life got much brighter, he truly enjoyed all the time spent with them. In addition he was an avid bingo player, earlier in life hunting, fishing, welding, and wood working. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Thursday, September 7th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a Fire Department memorial at 7:30pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. on Friday, September 8th at 11 am. Interment to follow at Savage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Savage Volunteer Fire Company or Savage Baptist Church
