Michael Stephen Anderson, 71, of Laurel, Maryland died on December 10 in Baltimore, Maryland. He passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters. Michael was born on January 10, 1949 at the original Laurel Hospital that was located on Prince George Street in Laurel, Maryland. He was the oldest child of Julian Bradley Anderson, Jr. and Margaret R. Anderson, both of whom predeceased him. Michael was baptized at Saint Mary of the Mills Catholic Church where he later served as an altar boy. He attended Saint Mary of the Mills School and Saint Vincent Pallotti High School, both in Laurel, Maryland. While at Pallotti, he participated in varsity athletics, theatre productions, and served as the President of the Class of 1967. Michael attended college for two years and then joined the family business, Laurel Realty Company, where he served as Executive Vice President for 40 years until his retirement in 2017. He served his community as a longtime member of the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad and was a member of the World Championship crew following an international competition. Michael also held membership with the Sons of the American Legion, served on the Saint Vincent Pallotti Board of Directors for several years, was a former President of the Laurel Rotary Club and an active member at the time of his passing. Michael was an avid sports enthusiast and a diehard fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens as well as the Maryland Terrapins. He had a passion for history and enjoyed reading books on politics, presidents and wars. Michael loved spending time with his family, seeing his grandchildren, playing chess, being anywhere that involved a beach, and talking to his beloved dog, Macy. He gave of his time to coach youth sports and generously helped many in need over the years throughout Laurel. Michael is survived by his wife, Pamela, of 45 years; daughters Kimberly Leaman, Diana Conway (Chris), Jamison Anderson (Everardo Estrada); four grandchildren, Chase, Campbell, Jordan, and James Michael; sisters Candy DiPietro (Bobby Joe) and Renee Spicer (John); cousins, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be officiated by Father Christian on December 17 at the Saint Mary of the Mills Church by invitation only due to COVID-19 restrictions. Donations may be made in Michael’s name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or the American Diabetes Association.
