Pauline Swartz, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at ManorCare Health Services, Silver Spring, Maryland. She was born in Mt. Jackson, Rockingham County, Virginia, on May 12, 1926, one of eight children of the late Robert Franklin Caldwell and Lucille Snyder.
Pauline is survived by her children, Mildred Marie Banks (and her husband) of Maryland, Nancy Ann Ruffin of North Carolina, Robert James, Daniel Eugene (and his wife) and Timmy Lee of Maryland. She is also survived by her sister Helen Echard; five grandchildren (Lisa, Richard, Lori, David, and Jonathan); twelve great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Carlton, her son Ernest Lee, her granddaughter Suzanna Swartz, her grandson Daniel Eugene Swartz, Jr., and seven siblings—four brothers and two sisters.
Pauline was a member of Maryland City Baptist Church. She loved growing and caring for flowers and working with her pet parrots: Rocky (an umbrella cockatoo), Toby (a macaw), Lucky (a moluccan cockatoo) and Winston (an African grey).
