The following obituary was lovingly submitted by the family of Richard Blankenship
Richard E. “Cat” Blankenship, Jr. (47) passed away surrounded by his family on December 20, 2021.
Rich was born on November 29, 1974 in Howard County Maryland. He was the son of Richard and Mary Blankenship. Rich grew up in Laurel, Maryland where he began his career as a firefighter. For twenty (20) years he strived to be one of the best and bravest firefighters Howard County has to offer. He was a “Fireman’s Fireman”
Rich was the owner of “Laurel’s House of Horror”. His creativity and imagination ran the haunted house in Laurel, Maryland for seven (7) years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Charlene, his parents Richard and Mary, his sister Nicole, his six (6) children; Zachary, Tyler, Alex, Allyson, Andrew Nicholas and his granddaughter Cali Rose. Rich is also survived by his aunts, his uncle, cousins and his fellow brother and sister at Howard County Fire and Rescue.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Community Hall at the Savage Volunteer FIre Co. Inc., 8521 Corridor Road, Savage, MD. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM in theEngine Bay of the Savage Volunteer FIre Co. Inc., 8521 Corridor Road, Savage, MD.
* Limited parking is available direclty behind the station on the auxillary lot and a shuttle is being offered from the covered parking garage at 10102 Junction Drive, Annaplois Junction, MD for both the visitation and funeral service.
