Teresa C. Maguire

Teresa Carlee Maguire, 82, of Laurel, MD passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side on April 18, 2020.

She was born on October 4, 1937 to Mary Stadler Reynolds and Elmer W. Reynolds in Huntington, WV.

Teresa graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Huntington, WV in 1955 and Georgetown University School of Nursing in Washington, DC in 1959 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.  She worked in a variety of specialties, last being Occupational Health at NASA’s Goddard Spaceflight Center in Greenbelt, MD.  Upon retirement, Teresa volunteered as a Nurse at the Laurel Senior Center for many years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel for 55 years and was active in many ministries.  She was a lifelong Girl Scout.  She was an accomplished pianist and taught piano, she enjoyed sewing, camping, painting, and most of all spending time with her family.  Teresa loved being at the ocean and the family cabin in Jersey Mills, PA.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 57 years, James P. Maguire, her children, including, Mary and Edward Fromm of Laurel, James Maguire of Sykesville, Maureen Maguire of Columbia, Megan and Mike Mikula of Laytonsville, MD, as well as her grandchildren, Sean Maguire, Genevieve Fromm, Kevin and Natalie Maguire, Clay Estes, Isabelle Fromm, Carolyn Fromm, Jimmy Maguire, Jack Mikula, and Ellie Mikula, and her sister-in-law, Brenda Reynolds, and nephew, Joshua Reynolds, Ironton, Ohio.  Teresa was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gerald Reynolds.

Teresa’s family is grateful for support from neighbors, friends, Gilchrist Hospice, and the Elizabeth Cooney Personal Care Agency.  Memorial donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer’s Association:  www.alz.org

The family will have private viewing, mass, and burial.  A Celebration of Teresa’s beautiful life will be held at a future date due Coronavirus restrictions on gatherings.
