Thomas E. Jarrell II, age 81, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 2, 2022.
Born on May 25, 1940, in Washington, D.C., the son of Karl Ennalls Jarrell and Mary Elizabeth Shoemaker Jarrell, he lived in Laurel, Maryland, and worked as a communications specialist for the Department of Health and Human Services until retiring in 2003. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Laurel.
Thomas E. Jarrell II is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Esther S. Jarrell. His most proud accomplishment was being a father to Thomas E. Jarrell III (wife Ann), Karl P. Jarrell, and James M. Jarrell (wife Kristin), a grandfather to Thomas E. Jarrell IV (partner Katharine Whetzel), Elizabeth Jarrell (partner David Aleman), Jason Jarrell (partner Regan Sollers), Patrick Jarrell, Macy Jarrell, Gabriel Jarrell, and Zoë Jarrell, and a great grandfather to Benjamin Aleman and Adeline Whetzel Jarrell. Thomas E. Jarrell II is survived by his sisters Mary “Reedie” Smith, Anna Jarrell, brother-in-law Phillip Sutphin (wife Kay) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Ennalls Jarrell, his mother, Mary Elizabeth Shoemaker Jarrell, and his sister Margaret Madert.
Visitation is at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. (313 Talbott Avenue in Laurel) on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 11 AM, with interment following immediately thereafter at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland.
