THE FOLLOWING OBITUARY FOR WINNIE MORGANS WAS LOVINGLY SUBMITTED BY HER FAMILY
February 10, 1925 – June 23, 2021
Winifred (Winnie) Morgans passed away at her home on Prince George Street in Laurel on June 23, 2021 at the age of 96. Winnie was born in Mt. Savage, MD to William and Genevieve (Larkin) Hopkins. Her family to moved to Laurel when she was a child where she and her sisters, Mary Marton and Eileen Prior grew up on Prince George Street, married and raised their children and remained on Prince George Street. until their deaths.
Winnie married Vincent Morgans (d. 1997) along side her sister, Mary (Bob Marton) on October 10, 1946, at St. Mary’s Church. Their’s was only double wedding celebrated at St. Mary’s.
Winnie is survived by her daughter, Mary Eileen (Mike) Leszcz and their children Michael (Heather), Katie (Eric), Marianne (Brent) and her adored great grandson, Aiden, and her son, Vince Morgans, and his daughter, Megan (Todd) and their children, Evan and Paige. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bob Marton; sister and brother-in-law Eileen and Raymond Prior and brother, George L. Hopkins.
Winnie graduated from St. Mildred’s Academy (Pallotti High School). Winnie was one of the founding members of the Ladies of Charity at St. Mary of the Mills She worked for many years at the former Laurel Hecht Company in the China and Silver department.
She worked as an Election Judge for the city of Laurel and Federal elections for many years.
She enjoyed many years playing duckpin bowling with her life long Laurel friends.
