Debbie,
Thank you so much for leaving your remembrance of Mom. You described a pretty typical 'Betty' moment from the days when she worked at Lord & Taylor in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church, VA. - pretty much where all of us Johnsons grew up. How Mom managed to work a full-time job and still be such a perfect Mom to six imperfect kids is beyond me.

So Thank You so much for the comment.

And for any other well-wishers, please know that my Mom would rather you donated money to a homeless shelter or an animal rescue league in her name than in any of the condolence packages this site has to offer.

Such a beautiful obituary, Sally. Betty really did love & treasure her family. According to Cecil (the Younger), and I'm paraphrasing: He would sometimes, after school, walk to Lord & Taylor (where Betty worked) to see his Mom. He'd find her ... always talking to someone ... and when he'd walk over to her she would whirl around and exclaim with a bright smile, "Oh! And here he is NOW!!"
Oddly, I was thinking a lot of Betty last week, Feb 20th or so. I believe she was, as usual, sending ALL of us lots of love. I hope when I see you next, Betty, you'll have on your Air Hostess uniform. I'm so thankful I met you.
