Yvonne truly loved her North Carolina roots,including her fervent passion for NC sports. She embodied the "Old School" of teaching, embracing phonics and penmanship. Yvonne's Second Graders at Bond Mill Elementary School always came to my Third Grade with wonderful handwriting skills. It was a great pleasure to get to know Yvonne better, and, to enjoy her fabulous sense of humor. Rest In Peace, Dearest Yvonne. I taught with Yvonne at O.W. Phair Elementary School in Laurel, MD starting in 1970 until they closed that and thirteen other schools and Yvonne transferred to Bond Mill Elementary.
I transferred to Kettering Elementary because it was closer to my home in Annapolis,MD.
Yvonne was a wonderful teacher and friend. She taught directly across from our First Grade classrooms and we had lunch together every day. She never lost her southern twang from her roots and could be identified by her voice anywhere in the building even when out of sight.
She will be missed at Bridge.
May she rest in peace.
